Let’s meet Rabbi Aryeh Dudovitz.
Rabbi Aryeh Dudovitz began his shlichus as the new Chabad Rabbi of Northwest
Indiana, located in Munster, IN for many years from 1995 to 2003. This was a warm
and friendly Jewish community.
He was then the Rosh Yeshiva at Yeshivas Chabad "Zichron Aliza" - (West Rogers
Park) Chicago, IL Rabbi Dudovitz also taught in a Chabad girl’s school in the
Chicago area as well.
Lastly, he started The ‘Moshiach Center’ in Chicago at 6738 N. California Avenue,
in West Rogers Park, Chicago, IL. (Currently Reported Closed).
In May 2013, a 45 year old West Rogers Park man was charged with sexually
assaulting a youth nearly seven years ago. Larry Dudovitz was charged with
criminal sexual assault of a victim between the ages of 13 and 17, police said. The
incident happened in October 2006. Dudovitz was ordered held in bond court
today in lieu of $100,000.00 bail.
When the judge questioned the prosecutor about why there was a delay of 6 years
in prosecuting this case the prosecutor stated that the witnesses were threatened
(suborning a witness). It was later revealed that police knew about the attack
shortly after it happened, but no arrests were made because Chabad and others
pressured the family of the victim not to cooperate with the investigation.
According to the victim, it was in October 2006 that Dudovitz came back with his
family to their West Rogers Park home after celebrating the Jewish holiday of
Sukkot (Simchat Torah) at a mutual friend’s home. The accuser said that he and
Dudovitz went to the teen’s basement room where they consumed more alcohol.
At some point, the youth said he felt sick and planned to go to bed. But, after
falling asleep, the youth said he was awakened by Dudovitz. Court documents
allege Dudovitz gave “the youth oral copulation while the victim was sleeping.”
Rabbi Dudovitz met with Rabbi Gedalia Dov Schwartz back in 2006 to discuss
this issue, but it was decided to sweep this under the rug and not turn him in to
the authorities. A wrong decision by Rabbi Schwartz.
